Nutrition Policy for Metro Canteens Vic Pty Ltd
At Metro Canteens, we are committed to promoting healthy eating and providing a nutritious food environment for all customers. Our aim is to offer a variety of food and beverage choices that support a healthy diet and lifestyle, while also promoting sustainability and ethical practices.
Goals:
- To offer a range of healthy food and beverage options that are nutrient-dense and low in added sugars, saturated and trans fats, and salt.
- To provide customers with information about the nutritional value of the food and drinks offered in the canteen.
- To promote the consumption of fruits and vegetables, whole grains, lean protein, and low-fat dairy products.
- To create a food environment that supports healthy eating habits and discourages overconsumption.
Implementation:

1. Menu Selection
Our menu will be reviewed regularly to ensure that it contains a variety of healthy options that meet the nutrition guidelines set out in this policy. The menu will include options that are high in fibre, vitamins, minerals, and other essential nutrients, while being low in added sugars, saturated and trans fats, and salt.

2. Promotion of Healthy Options
We will promote healthy options through signage and other marketing materials, including nutritional information and the use of symbols or logos to highlight healthier options.

3. Training
Our staff receive training on the importance of healthy eating and how to provide customers with information about the nutritional content of our food and drinks.

4. Evaluating and Improving
We will regularly evaluate our food and drink offerings to ensure that they meet the standards set out in this policy, and make improvements as needed.
